I wouldn't recommend this place. Despite having two hot bars at the front, it's not an all-you-can-eat establishment. The small dining area is right next to the hot bars. I opted for the fried chicken and some vegetables, but before serving, a man from the back replaced my chicken with a different kind, which I found odd. I chose to skip the white rice. My companion ordered the marinated pork and cellophane noodles with crabmeat. When I declined the rice, the server informed me that I couldn't choose another side, which I found frustrating but tried not to let it ruin my experience, accepting the overpriced and mediocre meal. This restaurant has a cozy dining area with large tables, along with a small restroom. Some Americans might not enjoy the white puto paired with dinuguan, but the biko is soft and delicious. I really like their menudo, which includes pork, carrots, peas, and potatoes (though I personally prefer it with brown rice). I'm also very proud that my father knows how to chop up a whole lechon kawali! A tip for those hosting a festive family gathering: their "golden" lechon is the best, and I would rate it an impressive 5.5 stars.
To make matters worse, the woman who processed my debit card accidentally overcharged me by $60. Instead of addressing my concern, she laughed as if it was a joke, which I found completely inappropriate. It's frustrating when businesses don't handle customer complaints properly. Just because we share a cultural background doesn’t mean we’re automatically on good terms. I want my money back!
I always have a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The staff is consistently polite and a delight to interact with. Star Foods feels like a home away from home when it comes to dining.
