Northeast Tea House is the best spot for tea in the entire Midwest. If you live anywhere within a two hour drive, coming here is a must. Their serene atmosphere and soothing music, coupled with a mesmerizing live coral fish tank, make Northeast Teahouse my go to place for when I feel stressed. The staff are all very friendly and incredibly well learned in different teas from across the world and give great recommendations based on your preferred flavor notes. Whether you’re just getting into teas or a seasoned expert, they have everything you could possibly want. It was hard to find a parking place for this shop. The tea is overpriced for the small amount that you get. When I asked for iced tea it was not chilled all the way, and was still lukewarm with no ice. I also did not like that could not bring your laptop to work on things. discouraging loitering by disallowing screen use in an empty tea shop makes no sense. I feel like this location would’ve been that better with that allowance. The tea I got was also not that good but maybe it’s just because I didn’t get the right kind of tea for me.
My favorite tea shop in minneapolis and would be 5+ stars if the hours were ever correct. 3 separate times now I’ve driven down to MPLS just for northeast tea house for them not to be open even though it was after 10am. Yesterday I even lugged my toddler out bc I was craving NE tea house just to find them closed again) at 10:50 : Amazing tea, service and atmosphere when they’re open?!
Worth a visit, especially for the aesthetics. They run the shop similarly to some traditional shops in Japan and Korea where you are meant to enjoy the tea and conversation, which is why the no laptop policy is not too surprising. The pre-packaged mochi and milled matcha teas are okay. This is a place you go to for the atmosphere more than anything.
