So, our first experience at 1847 was on a Friday night....asked for a glass of Chardonnay and the response was, "We ran out of Chardonnay". Mind you, there is an LCBO within walking distance....Send someone to get some! Our next experience was actually OK; the food was good, the service pleasant, but the kitchen is SLOW! Painful. So, last night we try again and we go on Steam Whistle Tuesday where drafts are $4! It's actually WRITTEN on the chalk board on the side walk as we walk in! And, lo and behold, NO STEAM WHISTLE. Steaks tasted like burnt meat. Horrible. They had the char lines, didn't look burnt other than char lines were deep, for whatever reason, the complete taste was burnt. They were really thin and tough. Looked like they were frozen in plastic, didn't have the texture of freshly cut steak. Did they go on the grill frozen? Extremely sad version of a New York Strip Loin. Honestly. the only item of the meal that was decent was the roasted vegetables. We won't ever go back.I've rated the value terrible only because of the poor quality of food.
Decided to eat out with my cousin and his wife. Place originally intended was closed. So decided to try this pub. As we walked in we knew we made a good choice as the food odours from kitchen smelt great. Waitress was pleasant and helpful. I wanted to try a different place in Brooklin I haven't tried yet. nice pub like atmosphere. friendly and prompt service. wings were good. they have a great special on Sundays. I always order the calabrese pizza and it's some of the best pizza in Whitby (seriously folks). only about $14. Excellent value and guaranteed to fill you up (if you can finish it). Risotto is also great. Great food overall (some great Italian selections), nice old building, big patio.
