Old Country Market Cafe

The market was extremely crowded, no mandatory masks or hand sanitizing, no social distancing, and no clear exit. If you are claustrophobic avoid! Only way out is to squeeze through a crowd of unmasked people lined up at the front of the store. As for...the store, it's typical tourist trap fare. The restaurant wouldn't serve us tacos, because they said the taco truck was open. Then they refused to serve us beer, because they said we HAD to buy food to get a drink....but not tacos. Is this a real thing? Are some places actually licensed to only serve alcohol with specific food items? Or were they just trying to clear our space for people buying food? If all you had was the ice cream at this place you would have been ok. We had the combos which are the home style burger with fries and the foot long hot dog with friesThe services was crappy the food was worse we...also had the bacon Poutine which served cold then when asked to replace it, it looked like they just added more gravy because the fries where drowning in it. I was hoping the mini doughnuts would at least be good but once again disappointment served cool and they tasted like the smell of urinal mints. Definitely not worth the wait or the nearly we wasted.

I am very sad to see how bad this has gotten. The tacos were awful. Among the worst I have anywhere. Though they look nice the flavors were rancid. The tortillas were stone cold. The tortilla soup had little to no tomato in it and...I'm betting used no chicken stock. Overall very disappointing meal. Things have certainly changed over the years. I wouldn't go back unless I saw a new chef advertisement.

This store is beyond anything you can imagine. They stock food stuffs, gadgets, games, breads, oils, jams, from around the world. It is so crazy in a town away from everything and here you are. It is a real landmark called Goat on the Roof ..and everyone knows about it. Take a minute drive from Nanaimo and you will fall in love with it. Reserva una mesa ahora

This place is like no other in the world. It has such a remarkable selection of international foods, cheeses, meats, toys, bakery. Considering it is in the middle of nowhere, there must be quite a following of people to keep it in business. It’s a...definetely MUST on your route if you are anywhere in the area.

If you are in the market for **** produced in China, this is the place to go! The local feeling you are expecting is missing completely here. Goats on the roof is worth a photo, but that’s the only interesting thing to see and do...in this place.

A must stop! Great little side trip off the highway! Parking is congested on the road. Just go around behind the Emporium, there is lots of parking and even some shade! Great ice cream and great food! They are always busy!

Couldn't find a TA listing for Billy G's Donuts next door, so am posting here. The donuts at Coombs Country Market are INSANELY GOOD. Worth the lineup, and be sure to try the apple fritters out of this world!!!

Enjoyed fish tacos and beer. Spacious sitting arrangements and good quick service. Our family ordered some fish and beef tacos, and chicken strips with fries. All items tasted good and were enjoyed thoroughly.
