I got a great deal on the local flavor menu at Olde Salem Cafe and decided to give it a try. Just a heads up, if you're using the local flavor deal, you need to use the full pretax amount, so be prepared for some leftovers. It’s a cozy spot with decent food. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger on a pretzel bun along with their pretzel sticks. The burger was okay—not outstanding—but the fries were excellent: fresh cut, crispy, and perfectly salted. The pretzel sticks were tasty, though the cheese sauce was just average. I also enjoyed the vanilla cake for dessert. Overall, a nice experience at Olde Salem Cafe.
WOWWW!!!! I’m so excited to have food my new German restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing, traditional, authentic. We ordered for the first time last night wont be the last. Olde Salem Cafe is the top German restaurant around! The owners are warm and inviting, creating a truly homey atmosphere. The liver dumpling soup was excellent. These are my two favorite dishes so far, and I’m excited to try more items from their menu. They’ve even been featured on Chicago's Best!
The food is excellent and genuinely German, and the Hofbrau Haus beer is the best! The staff is very friendly as well. I will definitely be returning.
