Orchard Drive Dari-Bar

Looking for somewhere for dinner in Wellington. After rejecting about 3 places because of ridiculously high prices in one, pretentious decor in another, a restricted 'night menu' in another, and one that rejected us (it was full)........we stumbled into the Orchard Drive Dari Bar. It does seem that this is where the 'real' Wellingtonians go. Very friendly and down to earth staff, bright cafeteria style lighting, and a varied and reasonably cheap menu. Started with the soup of the day.......a delicious Turkey with Wild Rice for only 3.75. Then an appetizer of coconut shrimps......and while the shrimps themselves weren't gourmet, the whole dish was quite tasty. I had a Greek Burger with onion...

Stopped for lunch after a long, hot and windy bike ride... Service was very efficient and friendly. Of the many menu options (making it hard to choose), we decided on the Butcher Burger with fries and Grilled Cheese with onion rings. The food and cold drinks definitely hit the spot... The server even brought us a large pitcher of water knowing how thirsty we were.The place is quaint and clean. We passed on the ice cream, but most people came in just for that.Would return if in the area.

We came in for an end of day ice cream. I'd had a burger there in the past and it was also good. They serve hand packed and soft serve ice cream, tonight I had a swirl soft serve dipped in maple.

We were looking for a good quick supper. I had a gourmet burger and it was delicious. We shared a great caesar salad, the croutons were the weakest ingredient. Highly recommended.

Stopped in after visiting a winery. Fast and friendly service. Lunches were priced accordingly and very good. Ice Cream though was a bit expensive.
