Partner used to eat here regularly so suggested to collect a take away to eat at home after a busy day. He orderd Kleftico with potatoes and I ordered Stifado. Both meals were luke warm, not even hot and we only travelled 3 minutes by car to home. The stifado was one of the worse I have ever tasted, certainly not fresh and I guess it had been frozen and warmed up. Not a traditional Greek dish at all, very bland, VERY greasy and (not just by looking at it but by taste, you know when your lips slide together afterwards, YUCK!!! Lamb was tasty but the only thing out of the meal that was Such a shame, used to be such a nice restaurant. Will not be returning for with sit down or take away meal.
This Cypriot restaurant in North London used to be considered the best, but my recent visit was a huge disappointment. The service was subpar, with only one waiter who was unattentive and dismissive. Additionally, the food was lacking. Many traditional meze options were missing, such as loukaniko and whelks. The meat course was particularly disappointing, with sheftalia being overpoweringly flavored with cinnamon and the pork souvlakia being dry and unappetizing. The salad consisted mainly of iceberg lettuce with minimal dressing, meant to be shared between 6 people. Overall, a let down from what used to be a favorite restaurant in Wood Green.
If you're in search of authentic Cypriot cuisine, this restaurant in North London is a classic choice. They start you off with an assortment of dips and pita bread, and all of their grilled dishes are cooked to perfection and served right to your table. You definitely won't leave feeling hungry. The downside is that it can be a bit pricey, and the seating area doesn't have much natural light. However, overall, this restaurant, along with Vrisaki and Dionysus, is one of the top choices for Cypriot cuisine that all North London residents will easily recognize.
Since the ownership and management has changed it’s a no brainier the quality of the food has changed! PANERI IS ONLY GREK BY NAME! I ordered a KLEFTIKO today and ended up paying more than £20.00 for a Turkish style one with tomato sauce rather than the Greek traditional one, I could of got that for £8.50 and saved me a hell of a lot. Sad I won’t be going back anymore I have nothing against Rumania and Rumanian people it’s the style of food and quality I have a problem with. Reserva una mesa ahora
What happened? This used to be my favourite restaurant, looks like another person who is not a Cypriot has taken the helm. He’s a penny pincher. He’s obsessed the quantity of what you’ve ordered. If you don’t order what he thinks is enough, he will ignore you and not even give you the complementary Meze as he will feel cheated. What a shame as his attitude really spoils what was one of the best Cypriot restaurants outside of Cyprus!
This place used to be one of the best in North London for takeaway and eat in. I was introduced by my wife eleven years ago and the Paneri was a regular for date night and takeaway. However visited for Mother's Day and the owner's rudeness and general attitude to his customers was unnecessary and unacceptable. Will not return again.
