Panorama Restaurant Allmendhubel

I visited this restaurant on many occasions, but after this last visit I will never go again and warn others. It was very busy and we could only use the self-service hut, choice is very limited we ordered... Chicken Nuggets and Pommes, not idea, but the queue was long and slow. We got our food after 20 minutes waiting in the queue. We both suddenly realized that the nuggets were raw inside, yes really raw I had eaten a few of them, we immediately stopped eating them, I wrapped a few in a tissue and took them seemed worried and asked where we were sitting. I saw her tell the head sever, but he never came by or more importantly, they did not go and talked to the person who cooked and served this food. We went, and I spoke to the main server again this time, he was obviously not interested and cleaned me off, I expressed my concern that it was a health concern and everything he could say was all good, bizarre attitude, we left and I was still concerned about safety standards and enameled them, again no answer. Fortunately, we were not too affected, perhaps the next morning to stay with a toilet, but their lack of communication and concern when they had the evidence in their hands is of great concern, I would not risk my health eating there again.

This is a convenient and reliable place to stop when hiking but expect it to be busy as it’s at the top of one of the funiculars so gets a lot of non walkers coming up from Murren village for the mountain views. It’s also...noisy as there is a large children’s play area up there as well. The food and service were good but I would have rather had a smaller portion and would suggest on many of the dishes you could share one between two for lunch. A number of the other mountain ski restaurants don’t open in the summer, so it’s best to check what’s open when planning your hiking routes. We did the Murren blue route in the morning up to Allmendhubel via the alpine dairy and then did the yellow route down via Grutsalp for a nice introductory days walk, which had this as the half way point for lunch.

This restaurant was recommended to us so we made a special trip up the lift and paid extra to do so because there was a sign saying it was open. When we arrived at 2.15 they were only doing cold food and soup as we...had been told that they had run out of everything else. Had we known this, we probably wouldn’t have bothered. It is very close to the children’s play area so popular for this reason but I think it was more the case that the chef had finished cooking rather than that they had run out of everything. I felt sorry for the serving staff as they had plenty of customers wanting to eat. We ordered a plate of local cheese and ham and this was excellent quality and plentiful.

Cosy and simple restaurant; very efficient. A bit crowded, but it adds something to the experience. Ask the people who sit on big tables when they don't mind sharing their table! Simple and simple! Good food in big portions! Beautiful views

We sat outside to enjoy the views, had a lovely waitress. We enjoyed a mixed salad along with a ham and cheese panini. Was a lovely place to grab some food.
