We were not told that one of the restaurant's sushi chefs had called in sick and that it would take my friends over an hour to be served their meal. We all got our soups at the same time (and they were delicious), and my vegetable tempura arrived soon after, as did a mixed mushroom dish to share. I started eating so as to enjoy the food while it was hot, and when I had finished my dish my friends were still waiting for theirs. We twice asked the waiter what was taking so long; he was apologetic but did not explain until the very end. Had we been told about this problem at the outset, we would have ordered something else. My colleague and I just had an amazing lunch at Park Restaurant in Westmount. First of all, the welcome to the restaurant was warm and friendly and the waiter switched to English immediately after hearing us speak together. We ordered a glass of wine with today's special, which was miso soup followed by a bento box. We both agreed that the miso soup was the best we ever had. The bento box contained a small salad with tasty Asian dressing, both pieces of sushi, yam noodles mixed with sauteed vegetables and a beef empanadita on a bed of diced avocado. The food was nothing less than spectacular. This is probably the best sushi I've ever had. A not to be missed restuarant!
We booked a table for a lunch. Walked in, ordered our sushi. Our waitress brought us the miso soups quickly and then...nothing, 35 minutes we asked about our food. They promised to bring our sushi in 10 minutes, while I clearly saw that they were servicing tables that arrived after us. When eventually after 40 minutes of waiting they brought our food, I mentioned them that waiting for a lunch for 40 minutes here and I clearly see you bringing food (same sushi sets) to the tablets that arrived after us 15-20 minutes. Waitress did not say anything, zero apologize and left. Havent had this type of experience in a while, not coming back.
Overall we enjoyed Park restaurant, the food was delicious and really well presented. My only negative comment is about service, although they were many staffs we felt that nobody was really taking care of us. We had to call the server few time and no one ever came to fill up our wine glasses. When I pay 110$ for a bottle of wine I expect some service. On top of that I had specified on the reservation that it was my wife's birthday and I was expecting a free cocktail or a dessert for her but nothing unfortunately. We had high hopes for our dinner at Park and were very disappointed. While the sushi and sashimi were good, they were not any better than say, in any average Toronto or Vancouver sushi restaurant and the 'original' sauces served with the sashimi were not eatable. Luckily they also served soy sauce and wasabi. Furthermore the portions were small, even for me who is not a big eater. Not to mention the extravagant prices for sushi and sashimi.
We had a fantastic dining experience at this restaurant. We started with miso soup and Salmon tartare, chicken grizzly as appetizers. For our main course, we ordered an 18 piece mariowase and 8 piece sushi rolls topped with mushrooms. The dessert, specifically the chocolate one, was absolutely delicious. The Strawberry vacherin was also very refreshing. Everything was perfect! Thank you for a great meal.
My husband and I celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary and my husband's birthday. We decided to treat ourselves with the 6 course meal and cocktails. Everything was absolutely delicious!! It builds as you go course by course, the three different types of sushi was our favorite part. It is worth every penny and a must if you are a sushi lover. Chef Anthony has an incredible restaurant and staff!
The food was phenomenal and the service attentive without being overbearing. We were there to celebrate, my son and I, with some sushi, sashimi and kobe steak. Each dish was well presented and with very well balanced seasoning. We also had some Maki sushi and sorbet. A very nice Junmai sake too.The meal was meant to be an experience and they delivered. We never miss eating at Park when we are in Montreal. Chef Antonio is skilled and passionate and won't disappoint! Highly recommend the tasting menu but come hungry. Park is an experience. Don't make a reservation and expect to be out of there in 30 minutes. Park is a dining experience. Love the asian salad! A great evening destination with a group of friends!
