I was visiting Washington a few weeks ago and ate the Parthenon. We were seated outside on a covered patio on a nice cool evening. For appetizers we the Saganaki Flambe and the Manitaria Gemista (mushroom stuffed with crab). Both were delicious. In addition, we had three shots of Ouzo to celebrate our upcoming Greek main courses. In between the meals one of the owners Mike came over and had a long conversation about the history of the restaurant and the food. The Parthenon is a justly beloved traditional Greek restaurant in DC. Enjoying a meal on the Parthenon’s attractive outdoor patio is a rite of spring and rightly so. Portions are generous and service friendly. Some restaurants never seem to change and the Parthenon is one of them. That’s the point. While I’ve been less enamored of a few of the traditional entrees post-pandemic (I’ve found the baked lamb and moussaka duller than previously, although my companion loved the latter , there is some delicious Greek food to be had here. My mother and I love dining at Parthenon. The food is delicious and satisfying, and the service is consistently excellent. While we haven't sampled anything from the cold appetizer menu, it seems to be a popular choice among other diners. During our last visit, it was unusually noisy, possibly because the cold weather had forced patrons who typically dine on the patio to eat indoors. The crowd at Parthenon is generally mature, with fewer children than at nearby Clyde's, although families do dine there as well.
We absolutely adore this restaurant! During our most recent visit, we organized a surprise party for a dear friend here last week. The staff, in addition to providing excellent overall service, went above and beyond to help us execute the surprise, including fetching our friend from the bar and sneaking over a birthday cake. They were incredibly friendly, kind, and just fantastic. The food was top-notch and as delicious as ever. We highly recommend this restaurant for both casual outings and special occasions!

I love Pathenon because it is reliable and unpretentious. It feels warm and hospitable. The portions are solid and worth the price. They don't put sugar in their sauces and dressings. I love that they have liver on the menu, which is not easy to find these days. I like to eat at a table with a tablecloth. And you always get a table even without a reservation. It's a perfect neighborhood restaurant.
Fantastic place!! Amazing food and great service! Everyone was so nice and attentive. They paid attention to details and made our kids feel welcome. Prices are very reasonable. If you are in the area, give it a try. You will not regret it
Fantastic gyros and delicious, tender, perfectly cooked lamb! Fairly inexpensive unless you're going for the most expensive items like lamb chops. Very interesting Greek coffee. Overall great Greek place with lots of choices.
We absolutely love this restaurant. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent. We especially love dining outside in the spring. We are repeat customers and will definitely be back again.
