After having the chance to attend a wedding there a few years ago, I decided to have my own wedding celebrated there this year ! The Clos is amazing by its emplacement, beauty and history. And of course, the stunning VIEW on the lake. But the best surprise was the kindness of the staff and the quality of the food. No need to talk about their wines they are awesome ! I will never forget that wonderful cocktail on the terrasse, the excellent dinner in the cosy red gold room and the super party in the big ball room upstairs. What an amazing afternoon we spent “au clos de la république!” We ended there completely randomly after having been turned down very rudely by the lazy waiters from the restaurant next door “auberge du vigneron”. Thank god we were turned down in retrospect! We were greeted by Roman “au clos de la republique” who did an amazing job in giving us recommendations about different wines and who had a very impressive knowledge about wines/vinery. Our great first impression was pampered when the waitress poured our two glasses of wine. My wife noticed that the amount in her glass seemed less than it should be and I saw that it was actually not up to the 1 DL mark on the glass. She showed this to the waitress and her answer was no excuse, but you want more!? She gave me the glass of my wife, but not mine I also noticed was a short measure. You can imagine that 1DL is not much in the first place and at 7 to 8 dollars a glass is certainly expensive for most visitors, so to give a short measure is the least bad manner. Had a wonderful afternoon last week with Mr Romain who took on us on a delightful wine tasting journey,not only with the great selection of wines but with the knowledgeable anecdotes he interspersed the whole afternoon with ! And a good sense of humor too .The place is too beautiful to describe- overlooking lake geneva, abundantly blessed by nature! With a very reasonable tariff for the wine tasting, prompt email replies by Nicole during the reservation process, the whole experience was seamless and delightful for me and my daughter--From St Saphorin to Cully it is definitely a paradise worth exploring and we would strongly recommended Mr Romain and his team at Epesses for a great wine tasti...
I can't wait to go back. This place is really extraordinary. It wasn't part of our plan to go here, and we actually came right when they approached. Mr. Romain still let us come in, showed us and let us have a glass of wine right in the pavilion. The whole backyard area is charming and then the look - it brought quite literally tears to my eyes it was so beautiful. I walked in 2016 and has since been to many vineyards/finals, as it is a passion of me, but not many have compared to this. Even in California. GO!
We had such a wonderful time today in Au Clos De La Republique. Today my wife's birthday and all the staff there made it extremely special for them and for me. Both Francine and Nadia went beyond and beyond their attention and the information they provided. The wine was also fantastic. We have made many different experiences of this kind and that was really amazing one of a kind of experience. Very recommended!!
This was the highlight of our trip to Montreux. Francine as amazing and made our visit so special. We were traveling with our 11 month old and she was so welcoming. We were able to relax, take in the stunning view, and enjoy delicious wine that she recommended. We have been to multiple wineries all over the world and this was our favorite experience to date! We did our first tasting in the area here and Roman could not have been more fun or welcoming. We had a great time sampling their delicious wine with a fantastic view. Roman let us taste several grand crus and gave us a tour of the cellar. A wonderful day that well remember forever!
