Paula's must be The destination for Maid Rite sandwiches. Everyone ordered them is obviously the local favorite. Not being from the area, the entire experience was endearing, from standing under sign at the lunch counter to order pay (cash only) then you select your table while your sandwich is made fresh brought to you. Very interesting sandwich, similar to a Sloppy Joe with No sauce. Watching the regulars, you bus your own dishes to help keep overhead low your delicious food affordable. A Must experience

Was near Valley Junction today running errands and a Google search for dining options led us here. Very nice Cafe with a good offering of Comfort Food options. We both had the Maid-Rites which were very good. We enjoy supporting local establishments and will definitely be back.

Friendly, fast service, great Maid-Rites and terrific atmosphere. Not fancy, just comfortable and welcoming. It’s like a trip to a happier, friendlier time. I go every time I am in Des Moines. Check out Valley Junction while you are there.

This is a small Cafe that serves the best beef burgers. There is also a number of other items to choose from. Service is great and friendly. Nothing fancy but a nice place for lunch. And prices are very reasonable.

I love Paula's. The maid rite is superb and the Mac and cheese was delightful! Love the cozy atmosphere. Takes you back to the good old days! The ladies working make you feel welcome and cook some delicious grub!

It's a diner, so don't expect fancy. Loose meat sandwiches are the main draw and these are really good ones. Food is hot and fresh. Service is always quick. The restaurant seems clean.

Great comfort food the staff is so kind! Chicken salad sandwich and onion rings are so good! Don’t forget to order a chocolate malt. It reminded me of my grandmas!??
