Have eaten here before but usually eat at the buffet but on this particular day I opted to select from the menu so I order the beef short ribs it took awhile but when the food arrived I was impressed with the portion size so I felt it was worth the wait that is until I bit into the short ribs they tasted boiled the dressing was dry like sand and the greens tasted like leaves but I was hungry so I attempted to endure but fare two more bites I couldn’t eat anymore I presented my complaint to what I believe was the manager who did his investigation then returned and wanted me to pay for this disgusting meal I offered to pay half he the said I either pay for the meal or he would call the police...
We drove in from South Bend, IN. Upon entering, we washed our hands as asked (on the signage inside the front door the bathrooms are right there) we checked in and were told it be about a 20 minute wait that we could wait outside in our vehicle for the text that they were ready to seat us. Once seated, our server/waitress bought us hot cornbread (w/butter on the side). After consulting with her, we decided to go with the buffet. The buffet is covered by glass (because of Covid 19) and a server prepares your plate as you tell them what you want on it (so many choices). The tables are covered with white tablecloths. The food was delicious! But I think the server that prepared the buffet plates...
The service was friendly and the food was really good. Almost every menu item was on the buffet. Pancakes, waffles, grits, eggs, build your own omelettes, potatoes, ham, bacon, turkey sausage, salmon croquettes, fried chicken, Mac n cheese, catfish nuggets and I'm sure I'm forgetting something. And that was just breakfast!
Ambiance, courtes service, pleasant server's and the food was excellent. Great prices, didnt go to the buffet ordered from the menu. A woman across from us had the buffet, and than reloaded and ask for a container she was advised that would be an additional $4.00, I thought that was great.

It was busy today. Worth the wait. I went with a program with Lake County Health Department it was fabulous the food was amazing! Everyone treated everyone like family. Chef Richard I believe his name makes the pancakes, waffles and omelettes!
Went there twice while in Chicago. All of the food was so delicious. Best place in Chicago for soul food. Staff was so courteous. Will definitely be going back.

The day I went (Saturday before mother's day) they had an all you can eat buffet for $20!
