The restaurant was incredibly loud and felt overcrowded. Since it was a rainy evening, the garden was closed and all guests were indoors, creating a cramped atmosphere. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate our reservation for an outdoor table by giving us a spot inside. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, the food didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered the rabbit jambalaya while the others in my group had burgers. By the end of the night, I found myself overwhelmed by the noise—people were quite loud, and the background music only added to the chaos. The high ceiling contributed to the sound echoing around the space.

People were loud and the background music did not help either. The ceiling is high and that might contributeto the echo effect. Not good for business dinners.
Delicious comfort food in a beautiful setting! I enjoyed a solo brunch at the bar on a beautiful Sunday complemented by a relaxed, warm interior with lots of light and a great playlist. I enjoyed my shrimp and grits though the sauce initially seemed'greasy' to me. I didn't like the texture of it but the flavors were on point. Can't wait to try other items on the menu!

I visited Pennyroyal for brunch with my friend Nate, and we both ordered their pancakes. They came with a delicious maple syrup, but we requested extra. The jam that accompanied the pancakes was fantastic too. I highly recommend this place!
[Update: I came back for dinner, my friends and family absolutely loved it. Everything was absolutely amazing. Great atmosphere, great food and amazing service from Lilly. Found a new gem in Mount Rainer.
this was my second time to go to pennyroyal and again I enjoyed the experience. the ambiente, the food, the service, everything was excellent! in any case an address that I will always recommend.
Quaint new spot in Mt. Rainier, MD right at the DC line. Beautiful mid-century vibe. Good food and drink options. However, quite pricey. We'll go back for happy hour and apps for sure.
