Penta is a beautiful little Elsternwick cafe with an interior that screams classy and refined, yet also encourages relaxation. Upon ordering their very famous nutella panacotta, I'd have to say I was a little disappointed with the portion size for the price paid. While it was something nice to eat, the flavours were not extraordinary enough to justify the price (the banana sushi was a little odd). However, the braised beef cheeks with waffles and a hollandaise sauce was truly wonderful and I thoroughly enjoyed the palate of flavours that were presented. All in all, lovely cafe with a cute interior and nice staff. Would definitely revisit for the waffles!
My husband and I have been to Penta about 4 times for breakfast. We find the waitstaff friendly and attentive. The past few times we've been seated at the bar but on request been given the next available table which is appreciated. I am quite boring and always have the bowl with quinoa and kale, I absolutely love it! My husband has tried the scrambled eggs and the buddha bowl which he loved. However on our last visit he was disappointed to find that it had been removed from the menu, bring it back please!
My family and I called in on Mother's Day without a booking and we're pleasantly surprised that we were able to get a table for 5 within minutes (albeit outside). My kids were wrapped there was a park across the road. We had a beautiful brunch. The potato rosti were a big favorite with my husband & kids. The Nutella panna cotta was YUM but rich so we shared, the banana sushi was brilliant. The granola bowl was the best for me though. Also had good coffee & tumeric latte.
I really like the Japanese/Mexican influence throughout their dishes. My friend and I both got the smashed avo and added a side of smoked salmon. The feta was barely there unfortunately and without that salmon side it would have been a little bland. Great presentation and portion size but I think that particular dish needs a bit more 'something' but more feta and a few more tomatoes would maybe do the trick. I'll definitely go back to try their other dishes.

Called in for a coffee a couple of weeks ago and decided to give Penta a go for Brunch this weekend. Menu has a great selection and the girls waitressing were happy and helpful. I settled for the Beetroot Bagel although all the meals around us also looked great. Everything was fresh and tasty. Coffee was great. All round a clean space with good happy staff with a good vibe.
Nice spacious fit-out. Sleek and clean. Exciting menu with lots of interesting options. Had the salad with poached chicken which was delicious (great dressing). Not sure what the point of the pumpkin purée on top of salad is. The salmon also looked delicious. Nice size serves. All very fresh and light. A bit in the pricey side.
I had a quick catch-up with a friend in the late afternoon. We each only had a quick snack and cold drink but enjoyed the visit a lot. The food and drinks were well-prepared and tasty. The service was exceptional with smiles and chats all round. Can't wait to go back there again to try more things from the menu.
Went for breakfast. Nice, open atmosphere and friendly service. I had the breakfast bowl, which was good. A bit overladen with kale and quinoa in relation to the other ingredients. My daughter had the orange blossom hot cakes which looked pretty but were overwhelmingly sweet.

The place is so nice because you can tell that they took care of any single detail! The food was very very good plus they had a few dishes that are totally glutenfree! I had the zoodles with salmon!!! Delicious!!! Keep up with the good work
