Absolutely incredible! After reminiscing about our childhood visits to this restaurant, we decided to return and see if it lived up to the hype—and it certainly did! For just $30, we enjoyed a banana chocolate shake, ribs with all the fixings, and a burger. The shake arrived first, packed with generous chunks of banana and wonderfully creamy. Soon after, the ribs and burger were served, and they were gone in no time. The ribs were smothered in BBQ sauce and absolutely delicious!
My mom has been coming here since before I was born. I started very early. This is THE place to eat. The best shakes you'll ever have in your life and some of the best food you'll ever get. I send this one photo to the aunts and cousins in my family all across the country and they instantly hate me... that's how good this food is and jealous they get. Generational food that I can't wait to share with my kids one day.
I stopped by Pine Shack Frosty during a day I spent in Chester while hiking the PCT this summer. PSF has a wide variety of ice cream flavors and toppings. I had a regular-sized chocolate shake with crushed Reese's peanut butter cups and Butterfingers added. The shake tasted amazing and had a really great thickness to it: in that ideal range where it could be sipped with a jumbo straw or scooped with a spoon.
I ordered a milkshake, but they got the flavor wrong. They made another one, and it still wasn't right. I decided to settle for the second version since I was worried that going back might result in a flavorless shake. On a positive note, the veggie burger was good. Great value, delicious flavor, and generous portions! The burger was juicy, complemented by the crunchy onion rings and the sweetness of the BBQ sauce. The fries were served hot and crispy, almost perfect with just the right amount of salt. The milkshake was thick and creamy, really hit the spot. Overall, it was a much more satisfying meal compared to our dinner in Susanville!
As of July 1 2024, this isn't closed! They are just serving a very limited menu of hot food due to a kitchen remodel, but they have all the ice cream. I recommend the chocolate malt (they don't advertise as having malt but they do) and the butterscotch shake. The chocolate vanilla swirl was great. We came here 2 days in a row.
