Piper's Burger Bar

This was a review of the new menu night. And, I was disappointed! The food here has been mediocre at best for quite some time. I was really hoping that a new chef would do the menu some good. Nope.... The Ceasar Salad was over dressed, the bacon wrapped asparagus was drowned in a very syrupy balsamic glaze and my Philly cheesesteak was dry and super salty. Another at our table ordered the fried chicken, which had an unappetizing sweet batter on it. The bacon cheeseburger was just ok and so was the black bean burger. All in all a disappointment and not a strong change from the previous menu. I really hope that the food gets better because I like this place to go hang out for a coffee or glass...

So, Piper's could be so much better and I wish it would make some changes. It is a nice neighborhood food and beverage restaurant, but it needs to stop trying to be all things to all people AND pay attention to detail. We were there for Valentine's....with expectations for the experience. Our server was wearing a ball cap, we only received one menu initially, and our booth was dirty. As a result, we went from ordering more expensive entrees to a burger and salad because that it was the ambiance felt like. The food is always good at Piper's but it misses the mark on experience. I would recommend to a friend but with reservations.

The service was lacking at this restaurant. The server was new and had not tried anything on the menu despite working there for a few weeks. He only checked on our table once while we were eating, and I had to flag him down from the bar to complain about my terrible Walleye tacos. The fish was so fishy that I couldn't eat it, and someone else at the table confirmed it by spitting it out. Although it was removed from the bill, by the time I got the server's attention, it was too late to get a replacement meal. While everyone else's food seemed to be good, I do not plan on eating at this restaurant again.

I love pipers and go here frequently. Unfortunately, a couple things went wrong with this visit. 1) our server forgot to bring my drink and I had to walk up to the bar. 2) we ordered three food items and they all came out at different times during our visit. 3) we ordered a chicken quesadilla and a pork one was delivered and my wife doesn’t eat pork. We will keep coming back because we love pipers and it’s in our neighborhood. Hoping this review will help enhance the experience.

I made a reservation for Surf Turf at 7:15 PM. They were out of sirloin and scampi scallops, but they made an effort to compensate for it.
