It is Voted Best Burger in Charleston year after year for a reason, seared 1/2lb prime beef with some of the most imaginative toppings. I had blue cheese and buffalo shrimp, and WOW what a BURGER! The restaurant is named after Edgar Allan Poe, probably because he was stationed on Sullivan 's Island as a Private at Fort Moultrie, which inspired him to write some of his most famous works, like The Gold-Bug (i.e., hidden treasure pirate gold might be buried on Sullivan 's Island or maybe Isle of Palms!
Finally got to visit a favorite place of a passed loved one, and I'm extremely glad we came. The Building is extremely cool with Edgar Allen Poe stuff all over. The staff was all very friendly. The draught list was solid with a good amount of local beers. I got the sleeper burger and it was delicious, the fries were really good as well, but I wish that there was more as a side. The food also came out fairly fast even though they were packed.I'd come back again if I was in the area.
Really wasn't such a great experience here. The environment was kinda weird and not welcoming. The food was very bland. The burgers come with a side of fried onions. I asked the server about the fried onions and she pointed to a few tiny little pieces of onion on the plate which you had to search to find them. My partners plate had a ton of fried onions compared to what was on my plate. Drinks were sub-par.
Being a local I thought I should give my honest review. The food is really good but the actual wait for our food was almost 1.5 hours. This place is a travelers favorite. Super busy all of the time but such a cool place to eat. The burgers were great and we also loved the nachos. We will be back just in the off season! The do not take reservations but a great place to experience if you are visiting.

Great atmosphere and very busy but very fast and kind staff. Always a good sign when a restaurant is packed I have found. Not a big menu selection but we'll known for their burgers. I got the burger with cheese and bacon with slaw (which was very good). My son ordered the grilled chicken and fries and my husband had the burger with Swiss. Fast service and great people. Can't wait to visit again.
Great Location, Super Service, Restaurant was clean and well staffed by friendly employees. Restrooms were available and clean. They have their own Free Parking lot.The Menu has something for everyone, the food was prepared as ordered and the portions were adequate.*Some changes have taken place regarding CC Fees and Sales Tax so check your Bill accordingly*
