Portail d'Olivier has undergone a transformation and is no longer a restaurant. The patron Jan has transformed it into a café by day, bar by night which serves the local as well as the tourist community in style. Local newspapers always on hand, the coffee is good.....there are sometimes croissants, and if not the boulangerie is a few steps away. On summer evenings there are inventive tapas on offer with the usual bewildering array of drinks favoured by the French....and a mean Aperol spritz. Lovely place to sit and watch the cyclists begin their hopeful climb up Mt Ventoux.
When you walk into the French doors you don't expect to find such a welcoming table setting. Although close together, in the Parisian style, with enough guests you are not bothered by your neighbours. The place was buzzing with happy, relaxed people many of them cyclists. The menu was very nice, lots of choice between a hearty meal and a light, even vegetarian dish. The caneloni of courgette with goat cheese and fresh basil was divine, the salmon filet was beautifully prepared. We loved it!
Popped in for dinner during holiday in nearby village. Very popular. Ate from the 19 euro menu. Service was friendly and attentive despite it being very busy. Food was of very good quality, imaginative and well presented. I especially enjoyed the accompanying vegetables for the main which was a light green vegetable frittata with further veg on top Overall excellent value for money and I would highly recommend.
Enjoyed very much our dinner. French cuisine, fresh regional products, nicely presented. No pretention to be gastronomic cuisine, but very good. Local wines not at all expensive and worthwhile trying. We especially enjoyed the service, friendly and with a touch of southern humor. Bedoin and neigbourhood offer a tremendous choice of restaurants, but I certainly can recommend this one.
