I loved this place and went a few times for relatively quick, delicious, inexpensive midday meals.+ AmbianceNo frills, some fans (meaning no A/C, which is standard here), can accommodate small groups. On my first visit to Cartagena, I was staying in an hostel just a few meters away from Quero Arepa. I had just arrived in Colombia but I knew what arepas looked like. So one night I decided to give it a try and I was not disappointed! Furthermore, I was pleased to notice they had an entire vegetarian menu! What a treat! After traveling through Colombia for a few months, I had other arepa experiences but never as good as this one. So when I came back twice to Cartagena I rushed to Quero Arepa with my eyes closed. Last night I tried the Veggie Hot Dog which was delicious! The attention is always good and it's open late which is not always the case of other restaurants of Cartagena.
¡Arepas realmente deliciosas y bien hechas! Pedí dos para almorzar, la Nina y la Reina Pepiada. Ambos eran realmente geniales, pero preferí el Nina porque hacía calor. La Reina es un plato frío, más parecido a una ensalada de pollo y aguacate rellena de... arepa. Todavía estaba delicioso, simplemente inesperado. Servicio realmente eficiente de servidores amables. Definitivamente no son las arepas más baratas que comí en Cartagena, pero son más grandes y más sabrosas, y bien valen la pena el viaje.
This food was bland and uninspiring. Our limonada de coco was warm and completely subpar compared to other places in town. I ordered a dish with rice and vegetables which equated to white rice drenched in soy sauce and red peppers - nothing more. Small place that has a limited menu based mainly on - as the name suggests - arepas. The portions are small and even though I ordered The Queen - the most expensive and with the most ingredients on the menu - it was hardly filling. You might want to consider a double order. At double the price. Friendly staff and nice atmosphere.
