This little falafel shop is more of a kiosk than a restaurant. There are no seats, tables, servers, or bathrooms, only fantastic falafel (and maybe some sweets and drinks). While this small gem may be easily overlooked, it's not to be missed. The falafel platter, a personal favorite, is a delightful combination of lettuce, tomato, pickles, tahini, and a fluffy pita bread, all perfectly complementing the star of the show-the fantastic falafel. When I relocated to the neighborhood, my friends, who had been living there for over 20 years, shared several of their favorite lunch spots with me, and Rainbow Falafel on 17th Street was among them. It's easy to overlook this hidden gem located just west of Union Square if you're not paying attention while passing by. Rainbow offers some of the finest falafel (deep-fried spiced mashed chickpeas) in the city, all for under $5 for a takeout sandwich.
This is the best falafel I've ever had! It's a small, unassuming spot on 17th Street near Union Square. The falafel is freshly cooked—definitely not pre-cooked—spicy, and perfectly complemented by the right amount of sauce. Just a heads up, it can get a bit messy, so be sure to enjoy it cautiously. Also, please note that it's take-out only and not wheelchair accessible.
Really good food! The falafel‘s are amazing. Person was nice, no wait. The only thing about the atmosphere was that they were selling vapes, cigarettes and stuff IN THE FALAFEL SHOP! I absolutely love falafel—and rainbows! These are the real deal! You can't get any better than that, and I can really taste the freshness of the ingredients. Just a heads up: if you ask for it spicy, they take you seriously, so be sure to have plenty of water on hand! But it’s delicious nonetheless.
This restaurant only accepts cash, but it serves the best falafel in Union Square. The ingredients are always fresh and of high quality. The hummus is fantastic, and the staff are wonderful. I love the food—there's nothing not to like!

Only accepts cash. The best falafel in the area. Always excellent quality and fresh ingredients. The hummus is fantastic. The staff are wonderful. I really enjoy dining here. What’s not to love?
