R+d Kitchen - Reservar una mesa

Hubby and I stumbled upon R+D Kitchen by accident. The only reason why we decided to check them out was because of the name of the restaurant. It's my husband's and mine initials, so it was a must!R+D is nestled in Santa Monica on the block of Montana. Parking can be a bit tricky depending on when you arrive. Be prepared to feed the meter. Hubby and I had a reservation and was sat quickly. I loved the ambiance and the vibe of the place. It was pretty busy the night we went and was very lively.I wish I could say the same about the service. I'm not sure if the waitress was new or if she had too many tables to handle but man o man. It took about 10/15 mins to have any service approach our table...

I always rated R&D as one of the best in the area however after COVID, there has been a continuous turnover of staff, and the menu and price changes have definitely gone downhill. This has been my local for over 8 years but things need to improve again. My family still frequent this place every week maybe more than once but recently we have had long waits for a table and been bypassed by the continuously changing hostesses to get seated. I have had to complain on a few occasions recently which I hate doing. There are still some regular staff who are very good and try hard and I appreciate this.

I absolutely love the crispy chicken sandwich from here. 10/10 and I’ve had it many times, always take out. But today, they forgot the tomatoes and the spicy slaw, and just our normal lettuce and mayo and I’m super bummed because it’s just not as good without the full ingredients!Food: 4/5

The fried sole and burger were amazing. Chicken sandwich was decent, I would consider it overhyped and wouldn't get again. Carrot cake has delicious icing but too many raisins for my taste. Excellent service my water was constantly refilled quickly. Very cozy atmosphere.

Great atmosphere. Amazing staff. Recommend the Cubano Sandwich and Crispy Chicken Sandwich. Our server Maddie was very nice and helpful.Parking: Park in Alley. Free.
