Went here for a lunch. The view was awesome overlooking the wineries and water in the distance. Service was terrible. We waited for 1h 20min before questioning the waiter if we could eat the grass in the paddock! Got our entrees almost 2 hours from sitting down! Anything would have tasted nice. I ordered soft shelled crab that was soggy and tasteless. Mains was not any better but dessert (hazelnut cake) was great! Considering we had to ask our drinks to be refilled every hour and waited so long for each meal, the experience was quite a let down and we would not recommend or be back even if it was free. Three of us ate lunch at Max's last Saturday and had a fabulous meal. Everything was so delicious. We shared a bottle of white SB wine which was nice and crisp. Two of us had the octopus starter and one had the kangaroo. There were so many surprise flavors in the dishes that really delighted us. We all had the Waygu beef for our main dish and all thought they were especially delicious. We all chose the chocolate dessert and it just melted in your mouth. The wait staff were some of the nicest we have had. They were all so very friendly. The food here is superb and we feel they should be given some chef hats!!
On a good day you can see forever and the restaurant at the Red Hill Estate is sited so you can. The view over the vineyards, through the countryside to the sea is beautiful. The food is good and served with grace and the wine tasting extensive. There is sure to be one there that you will like. Go there for lunch or dinner or pop in for a wine tasting and to pick up a few bottles of your favorite brew. A good destination for a drive down to the Peninsular.
Four of us had a lunch in the Red Hill Winery. There was not a lot of choices on the menu. we tried four different dishes with the restaurant's recommended wines. All dishes were very tasty with good presentation. We sat in a table by the big glass window. The restaurant is located on the stop of a slope and which has a very nice view oversee the whole wine yard. Good food, wine and view, we enjoy having lunch in Red Hill Winery Restaurant very much.

My son who lives in Melbourne drove us here. Beautiful area, stunning views. Had some drinks. Did not dine here, looked like you had to dine inside. Felt we were not dressed up enough for that. Will definitely go back here. We sat outside, it was very hot. Did not have an umbrella at first but swapped tables when another area was vacated. Some more umbrellas would be good. Beautiful lawns. Nice gift area inside.
Its more than an hour drive from downtown Melbourne but it is worth the drive. Great food that you will definitely enjoy together with a great view of the vineyard. Booking required for weekends. Very Professional waiters and waitresses.
Red Hill Estate has one of the most beautiful views of any vineyard in the world. We visited on a beautiful day in February 2016. We enjoyed some excellent wine and the staff were excellent throughout our visit.
Have to say the food here is magnificent. Unbelievably high quality seafood and desserts to die for. If you get chance this is a must visit in a beautiful part of Victoria. Staff are also exceptional
