Red Star Chinese Cuisine

Red Star has a nice big menu, which seems to be the rarity in Manitoba. That was my main draw to this restaurant, the variety.First visit to Red Star we dined in the restaurant and I honestly thought that the food was fantastic. It came out piping hot and the waitress was very nice. Ambiance in the sitting area was quite nice. However the bathroom was not great, as it was dirty and smelled awful.Fast forward a bit we decided to do a large takeout order. Phoned in a pick up order, the phone was answered our order was taken and the food was ready quickly. That's where it ends there.97 dollars for cold dry Cantonese noodles.An abysmal order of pork in bbq lean pork.No meat or chips of meat in the puny order of chicken balls.Some dishes were actually hot so now I'm wondering if we were served the leftover noodle dishes from the buffet.That's the only reason it could be ready so quickly.Cold shrimp , in the deluxe curry noodles??How!?Was it the worst I ever had ...No.However for the price point the serving size the food had better be stellar. Not cold recycled cruddy food.No white rice as a bonus served either, unlike other locations in the town...

We had eaten at this restaurant last year for our 24th Anniversary dinner and we were very happy with the food and service. This time not so great. Service was good but the food was not great. Sweet and sour ribs were actually riblets and not very flavourful, consomme tasted burnt, pan fried shrimp with mushrooms and sauteed onion was okay but not many shrimp for the price. We took home what we did not eat since we paid for it but found one dish had been forgotten. Hubby actually said the food tasted better the next day. We'll see what next year brings.

We've been before, and I'm addicted to their consumé soup.In the past, the sauces were watery and bland, so today I was glad to see they were thicker. However, the honey garlic was still clear and now goopy.Tastes like they add sugar and corn starch instead of less water ?I still loved the veal and my first try at deluxe egg foo young, and I loved it. We came here for lunch and 2 of us had the consommé soup and another person had the wonton soup. Both soups were very good. The spring roll was good. One of us had the combination plates A and C. We got lots of food. We enjoyed the food and the waitress was very helpful. We would come here again next time we are in Stonewall.

I was in Stonewall looking at a property and decided to then go for dinner. I discovered Red Star restaurant and was glad I had. Excellent menu choices and even better food. I have since returned a few more times just to have dinner here. Wish I could find a Chinese restaurant like this one in Winnipeg.

Celebrated a 65th birthday party here.The food was hot, fresh, and delicious.Service was outstanding. Our server Amelia was very attentive and super nice.Dietary restrictions: Some Gluten Free Options available.
