Andlau is an exceptionally lovely town and Le Boeuf Rouge is a fittingly pretty restaurant. It was very welcoming and the staff kind and friendly. We were happy with our meals. Two of us started with the foie gras. It came with plenty of toasted brioche, and cubes of a wonderful gelée, which tasted of Christmas ham. Delicious. The other two had the smoked salmon plate. We expected the usual bright pink slivers of fish, but what arrived were two sizeable tranches that were cleared smoked in house. It was extremely flavoursome, a little salty and well smoked. It came with an excellent lemongrass crème, almost the consistency of chantilly. The mains were the choucroute garni (an enormous plate...
Family meals, we were well received and served pretty quickly. Good cooking, a flat for the kir whose blackcurrant was only in the condition of traces, the cooking of a steak that was not the one requested and the sauce requested separately and which arrived in the plate. Apart from these small details we ate very well and the plates were copied. We'll probably come back again, it's an excellent address.

Sat in the courtyard with friends. Staff was great and setting was really nice in the old town. The 'Alsace salad ' is 2 cold sausages and a pile of cheese would not recommend for anyone seeking a a traditional salad...
Situated in the middle of a quiet village. Table available without prior reservation. Excellent service and an equally excellent selection of delicious food.
