Restaurant de la truite champ du moulin

Stopped here when hiking the Areuse Gorge. Pretty much the only choice along the way from Noiraigue to Boudry. Looked like an inviting place near the river with a large terrace and a big lunch crowd. Given the hot, sunny day, we wanted to sit in the shade. A group of friends offered us their table as they were about to leave. The server gave us a bit of attitude as we were 2 and this was a table for 4. We said we'd be happy to have another 2 sit with us though. It also took a very long time for the guys to pay because all of the servers were so busy, so we were standing around. Impression was that there was not enough wait staff on this very busy sunny Sunday. The menu is simple and focussed. Trout is the house speciality and in the name of the restaurant. Served in 5 variants. In addition, there is a colds cut platter and roast beef, some deserts. And each menu comes with a salad which is good value. And the salad really helped on this busy day as it could be delivered quickly while everything else took much longer. Overall, the food was fine, but nothing spectacular. Service personnel were overstretched on that day unfortunately. In summary - not a bad place, but not one I'd absolutely go back to.

Perfect location next to the Areuse River (pictorial canyons). The troutbleu was delicious and the Tagliatelle were very delicious. Our experience, though was overshadowed by some of the waiters by the absolutely lousy service. They didn't care if we were happy or not... If it weren't us, some other people would have been at our table to take care of a polite service...

I was staying in their accomodation (well worth it if you're heading out for some hiking) so popped in here for my breakfast. And what a feast. Served on a piece of slate was more than enough fruit, bread, cheese, meat, tea, juice. I couldn't even finish it, and I was hungry. Hit the spot for me!

I went there this weekend with my mother. We ordered a truite aux herbes with a bière artisanale ...guau, it was just delicious. The fish was fresh and so well cooked. I ordered it with rice and I was a great choice.

Went here after a nice hike in the area. Food was great. Local specialties are fish and horse meat. All very good. Waiters are pretty rude.
