Restaurant des Rochers

This was a joy. The port of Ploumanac 'h is beautiful as is the headland behind, with wonderful walks. Les Rochers is one of two restaurants associated with the Duplex hotel and on the basis of our visit is well worth seeking out. Full on a 'quiet ' Wednesday lunchtime, the food lived up to the excellent views. Crab Cannelloni was a lovely dish, the tarte fine de ble noire good but could have been better. The John Dory with asparagus was well presented and cooked to perfection and fine to taste, the fricassee of scallops and langoustines was a good but not great dish the langoustines a slight disappointment but the sauce very good. A bottle of Duval Leroy champagne was fairly priced and work...

I think this place has a lot of potential. There were a few opportunities for improvement. The waiter lacked a little bit of experience for this type of restaurant. The highlight for me was the apple pie very different way of doing it and still so delicious. The oysters were not as fresh as I had expected and the beef was way too chewy. They do offer a stunning view on the water. I am grateful for the manager and support staff for our table for kindly accommodating my family with a young baby with us. They were very friendly staff.

We have been before, but this time the meal was ruined. The chef is clearly accomplished but for some reason decided to curryfie the beautiful fresh Scallops. There was no mention of this on the menu and the waitress did not mention curry or curry spices when she described the dish. The throat burning spices also wrecked the taste buds completely ruining an expensive meal in a perfect location. The chef also tended to put unnecessary things on the plate, like a puddle of cream with John Dory.

This restaurant has a location to die for overlooking a pretty port. The main thing though is really good food, properly cooked, served by friendly and efficient staff. A meal of this standard in the UK would easily have cost 50% more, if you could find one. Recommended totally.
