We visited this this restaurant for lunch twice this summer. On both occasions we found the setting, the grounds and the house delightful. The staff were pleasant and helpful and we dined outside in perfect weather. Our first visit was at the beginning of August and the menu, the food & the wine were all excellent. The combination of flavours, the choice of wine to accompany each dish were all very good and we passed a very pleasant two or three hours. The food on our second visit at the beginning of September was very disappointing; The menu was limited, the dishes were minimal and the wine was far from plentiful. Frankly it seemed to us though the Management had instituted an economy drive. We didn't like being charged €39 for two glasses of champagne either. Maintaining high standards is essential if an expensive restaurant to build up a good reputation. We have several friends who also have mixed feelings about this place. La Baume, once the home of Artist Bernard Buffet, has only been open a relatively short time, so the Jury is out.
