During our full week in Provence we ended up eating here three times. We just had to keep going back!!!Family run--Dad is chef, assisted by younger daughter as sous chef; Mom is manager, assisted by older daughter in serving. The family is absolutely charming. Dad enjoyed waxing poetic (in French) about his VERY fresh fish and then checking that we enjoyed it. Mom checked as well--in English.Food--classic Provençal. An amuse bouche of various delicacies--COD spread, tapenade, marinated octopus or tuna or salmon, an amazing fish soup worth repeating in our return visits, various stews (octopus was my favorite), and then, of course, the fish they are famous for. Plan ahead--don't just drop in....

Predominantly fish-based restaurant situated on the main road through Paradou. We were positioned on the enclosed terrace outside the elegant old main building. Very comfortable; lots of vegetation and every other table was full of enthusiastic fish consumers.Unfortunately, as died- in- the wool carnivores, we were scraping around the comprehensive menu trying to identify something non-scaly or without shell. Probably should have mentioned our preference to the people that booked the table on our behalf. So what we ended up with was, basically, a looky-likey cottage pie, with pulled lamb meat in lieu of the mince, and a green salad to accompany. This is a beautiful little restaurant, with a classy, romantic atmosphere. It was very busy the night we ate here, so it was a long slow meal, but it was a classic french experience. Service was friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. The fish soup was quite the experience. It's like a poor man's version of bouillabaisse. You rub garlic on croutons, sprinkle them with cheese, and pour the fish based soup over it all. (no actual fish pieces in it) Our only complaint, is the portion size for the price you pay. I had something similar to shepherd's pie and my husband had a fish casserole type dish, which both came in small dishes similar in size to a serving of creme brulee.

We were staying near to Avignon and my wife and I decided to go out separately to the rest of the family and thought that this restaurant sounded wonderful. We booked a table for two at 1 pm, but had miscalculated how far away it was, so we didn't get there until just before 1.45, we parked and walked in only to be told that we couldn't eat there, without any explanation, despite the fact that they are open until two. We then had a one hour drive back to where we were staying. Naturally we were most unhappy.
