Restaurant l'Ouillette

Having cycled through the vineyards we arrived in the main square at Santenay looking for a sandwich! Distracted by the presentation of the food emerging from the kitchen, we parked up and settled into the entree et plat menu. Chef tasters were presented and were exquisite! The local Santenay 1er Cru was savoured so we had to have two glasses each! Way above average food , calm and professional service. A great find. The cycling back to Beaune was a little harder after lunch.

We were in the area wine tasting and exploring. At mid day, we started looking for a place to eat. We came upon l"Ouillette by chance. We were pleasantly greeted and seated. They had menus in English. We each had four course meal with wine. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. It is a must go to restaurant.

The food at l'ouillette is fine. The service is iffy. I depends on which person is providing service at a given time. One woman is fine the other not so fine. Our major problem occurred hours later. Both of us came down with a serious case of diarrhea--me more so than my companion. I doubt that we would return.

A perfect meal, at sunset on the plaza by the fountain. Excellent service, excellent food, reasonable prices. We loved everything about this place!

Excellent food and wine. Wonderful French country atmosphere ans the service was the best, courteous and prompt.
