Restaurant Pizzeria il Lago GmbH

This wonderfully located restaurant started only recently. We had minestrone alla nonna, sea food risotto, risotto with beef and lasagne alla casalinga with half a liter of Primitivo, which were all excellent. The asset of this restaurant is the fact that it is conveniently located at the lake of Zurich, not so far from Männedorf ship landing, next to Cinema Wildenmann. During the warm-season we can sit outside enjoying the lake view, watching the ships roll by. The restaurant was crisp and clean (also clean and spacy toilet). Some draw backs: the parking space is right in front of the restaurant and there is Seestrasse (main road), between the lake and the restaurant. But most of the restaurants in this area have the similar set up and it did not really disturb us after all. Great pity about the coffee i.e. it was not really Italian.

Sadly the reastaurant is behind a parkinglot and a busy road, so the view onto the lake is not there. The restaurant is devided into 2 sections which makes it a bit complicated when the waitress is in the other section and can not be called easily. the menu features the standard italian dishes and the tastes are OK. also the portion sizes ar nice. All in all OK but if you are not around I would not make a special trip to visit this place.

My partner and I have eaten here several times as a couple, with family and with friends and we have never been disappointed. Ignacio Orti is an excellent host and has introduced a fantastic wine list where even the House Wine (a superb Barbera) is worthy of note. We will continue to come back here as Ignacio is continually updating his outstanding seasonal menus.

On a business trip we decided to have lunch here. The food was good with a nice variety. The Pasta was cooked well, nicely al dente. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. The price was also not breaking the bank. I would go back should i be back in Mannesdorf in the future.
