Rod's Steak and Seafood Grille

Rods Steak and Seafood restaurant at the Madison Hotel in Morristown was a wonderful experience. A walk back in time with the beautiful tiffany glass ceiling, mahogany woodwork an carvings. We had an early reservation which was really good. By the time we left, the place was full and really energetic. If you want intimate, do an early seating. The food was absolutely beautiful and very good. The prime rib perfectly melted in your mouth and a good portion size. Overall, my last two visits to Rod's have been a bit disappointing. I've been going there for well over 10 years, for events, dinner and lunch. The last few times, it's as if Rod's is cutting back on their quality. A case in point their kale salad has always been one of my favorites lots of apples, goat cheese, nuts, and granola, as well as kale. On Saturday evening, it was loads of kale and not a lot else a little goat cheese, a few pine nuts, no granola, very few apple bits. Even very little dressing my companion had to ask for additional dressing, which was generously given, but it shouldn't have been necessary. The atmosphere and service were great! The food and drinks were severely lacking. The grilled octopus and lobster tail were overcooked and rubbery. The steaks had no flavor. The sides were mediocre. The fresh fruit was not at all sweet and the coffee tasted burnt. The margarita was off putting. Excellent piano player.

We celebrated 2 birthdays and it was wonderful. Service, food ambiance all top notch! Beats Capital Grille by a mile!
