Okay, the donuts are great. Let there be no mistake. The old fashioned was near perfection between crunchy outside and the moist inside. The cake donuts, very tough to make it right, didn't have a hint of graininess nor stuffyness. Perhaps the original sugared came across a bit less airy but definitely forgivable.I would rank Rolling Pins a step above Chucks but perhaps a couple steps below Johnny's or other unique, boutique shops. This is your classic donut coffee and not something bespoke or artisanal.Only reason for pulling back 1 star is the price. Somewhat expensive for what you get, especially comparing to Chucks.

This friendly over-the-counter donut shop serves freshly baked donuts from 4am-12am Monday through Sunday. Workers are super friendly, attentive, and will help you narrow down your choices. My favorites donuts will always be the matcha Ube cake donuts! I highly recommended pairing these flavors with coffee.
This place has definitely gone downhill, I had been coming here since the 70's and back then they deserved 5 starts all day every day! Now, the donuts were stale, the size shrinking, I get with the times, the old fashioned seemed like they changed the recipe and the cinnamon twist was good flavored but stale. I also got a maple bar and when I took a bite, the maple came falling off like old paint, did I get day old donuts? Even back in the day we would eat the next day and they weren't that bad. I gave 2 stars for sentimental reasons but will not stop by again if they are disappointing as this.
Rolling Pin donuts shrunk my favorite Chocolate old fashioned donut. Not only size has diminished but quality is not the same. It was not crispy, and chocolate glaze wasn't sweet. Every time I go to SFO I make it a point to stop there. NO MORE! I also bought a raised glazed donut and it wasn't billowy and airy as they used to be. I don't know who owns it now, but the place is bad news. Check out the dimensions in my photos.

I have been visiting this place since I was a child, and it's been 31 years. Now, I bring my family here during our trips to the Bay. The donuts are still the best, and the hospitality remains as warm as ever. It's a reliable experience, and I highly recommend stopping by on your next trip to the Bay!
I visited Rolling Pin after arriving at SFO, and I was really impressed! The donuts were delicious, and they offer an extensive variety. Their coffee was quite tasty as well. I definitely recommend stopping by when you're hungry!

Highly recommend the buttermilk bar donuts. This place is dangerously good! They make every type of donut you can think of and also sugar cookies as well. The buttermilk bars are on point! Warm them up and you're in heaven.
