My twin brother Stephen and I were strolling down Castle Street when we decided to check out ROX, a bar we had never been to before. I was impressed by the bar's appearance, with its exposed brickwork, stylish décor, and comfortable furnishings. After being closed for 14 weeks, pubs, bars, and restaurants in Liverpool finally reopened on April 12th. My twin brother and I were excited to explore our city and visit some of the great establishments it has to offer. One of the places at the top of our list was Rox, located on Castle Street. We sat outside on a sunny Spring afternoon and were greeted by a friendly staff member who took our details for the track and trace system. We ordered two beers, which were served cold and sparkling. We are regulars at this bar and live in the city center. We have visited many times, even when it was called Pinch. However, our experience last night, on the 31st of January, was disappointing. We arrived around 7 with my partner, my son, and his girlfriend. When we went to the bar, the bartender informed us that it was table service. The girls were going to sit at a table by the bar, while my son and I were planning to stand. The bartender insisted that we sit down, but I said I didn't want to. We stayed opposite the Rox in a hotel and the Rox became quickly our local. During the cause of the weekend we were here 4 times, twice for breakfast and twice for drinks. Very friendly and attentive staff. Food quality was excellent and the young Irish chap made a nice cocktail for us. Breakfast choices were sufficient and the cook had no issues adding stuff or making changes. We never managed to try the bottomless brunch but I will be back for that one. I visited recently with 8 other friends it is quite a small place and I think it is only because we went fairly late on a Tuesday that we all managed to sit together. We only had one drink each although we all ordered different cocktails and they were served quite quickly and even brought over to the table. None of us had food so I cannot comment on this but the cocktails were brilliant and the bar men even offered to make us anything off the menu that we wanted. The service was fab.
I visited with a friend midweek and the bar wasn't very busy but there was a welcoming atmosphere, the bar staff were friendly and the choice of drinks immense! The interior is well decorated and we had a lovely time there. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the drinks. We didn't eat this time but the menu looks good, something to look forward to in the future!
