I was really disappointed in my meal after having read so many great reviews. The server was very friendly, however that’s the only positive thing I could say about the dining. The food service was quite slow; it took approximately 45 minutes to get from ordering to eating. I ordered the pasta with chicken and it was a total disappointment. The food was completely bland, the sauce was basically water, and I left about as hungry as I was when I came in. This was the first time I’ve ever had to use the salt shaker on the table at a restaurant. After all was said and done, $40 for watery bland pasta was not what I had in mind for a nice meal out. Maybe times have changed I can’t recommend this...
roy is a culinary and cultural gem of santa barbara. roy restaurant is so close to an executing form of an actual person as I have ever seen; with other words, roy seele. has large foods that are created and manufactured from the spirit of roy gandy, are on handwritten menus and have local organic products and seafood. roy also serves to eat too late, so it is a great place to get excellent eating when most other kitchens have cooled. the decor offers rotating collections of artworks from local artists and beyond. there are also relics away from local attractions, such as the great neon jolly tiger behind the bar. They also often have live music at the weekend; call them timetable.

Cool art and overall uniquely decorated space. Some of the food was great… other entrees lacked flavor at all. I loved the details, the handwritten menu, and the potato pancakes. We waited over 2 hours for our food (it was Christmas Day).

we had the chicken marsala and the cream seemed to be missing from the sauce. very watery and not much taste. the meatball and pasta were good. had an salate, but they were made of feta cheese so that they replaced it with bree.
this place was great. the house salad was the best I had in so long time! the handmade pasta and meatballs were delectable! it was empty on a Tuesday night with nothing wrong. service was fast and delicious!
amazing eating, always fresh and tasty! wonderful service and atmosphere. best homemade ravioli and the sauce is simple and so good. that comes from an Italian. Thanks roy!
