We've been stopping by this restaurant on our trips to and from Branson at Lake of the Ozarks for the past 25 years. Sadly, it just isn't what it used to be. Now, the portions are about half the size they used to be, even though the prices have gone up. Still, we make it a point to visit whenever we're in the area because everyone still looks forward to it. However, during our visit today (Sunday, 8/7) at 12:15, we found it closed! Their Google listing says they open daily at 11 AM, so we were disappointed.
Over the years, we've really enjoyed Ruby's for its delicious ice cream and charming small-town vibe, and we love supporting small businesses in Missouri. I know they changed ownership...
Ruby's Ice Cream has been a long time favorite! Their ice cream is homemade, super creamy, and so much amazing flavor! The waffle cones are also all homemade and so tasty! I love stopping by for a cone any time I'm in St. James and I loved seeing the little trailer at the Phelps County Fair this year! If you're looking for some great ice cream, make sure you stop into Ruby's! The owner, Kristin, is an amazing woman as well and always has the biggest smiles for her customers. You can tell she has a true passion for running the business.
The service at this restaurant is exceptionally friendly and efficient, offering an exciting variety of unique and delightful flavors! The ice cream's texture was fantastic. My only minor issue was that it seemed a bit expensive—$16 for two scoops in a small cone and another two scoops in a bowl. Also, the vanilla ice cream could have benefitted from a stronger vanilla flavor. However, it was very fresh and truly tasted homemade. If I could, I’d give it 4.5 stars!

They have real premium ice cream at Ruby 's, not the soft serve stuff, and the pleasant server made a great chocolate milk shake that made mommahappy. I had never heard of a cold press (coffee) float and tried that. It 's not root beer but it 's not bad.

This restaurant has lost its former charm. The food now tastes like it was bought from Walmart! During our last visit, the ice had a smooth, creamy texture and an amazing flavor, but that's no longer the case. I'm giving it two stars for the friendly staff with colorful hair and the nice aroma that welcomes you as soon as you enter.

I recently enjoyed a wonderful ice cream cone at Ruby's. They have an impressive selection of flavors, and the staff was friendly, patient, and took their time with my order. I will definitely be returning!

Very good ice cream, but the mint chip ice cream was stingy on the chocolate chips. We still like to stop there on our way to The Lake.
Stopped by Fri early evening. Pleasant guy working the counter and great price for ice cream.
