Rudy's Mexican Food

Food was decent, we had a table of 8 and they messed up one of the orders which was ok. There was also a 3% charge if you do not pay with cash which was also ok as we had cash. The part that got me is the handwritten receipt.. you can see here that it is very difficult to read. We didn’t notice at the time but the total was $159 and then it jumped to $185 so the waiter gave himself a $26 tip. This is common for a large party except for he failed to mentioned this and it was not listed anywhere on the messy receipt so we ended up double tipping. We organized a birthday party in the back room for around 25 people to celebrate my grandmother. However, when we arrived, nothing had been set up for us. As family members trickled in, we had to retrieve our own menus due to the short staffing. Half of us never received our drinks, and they took orders table by table, resulting in the food being served in a disorganized manner. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I do want to acknowledge the one server who worked hard to manage everything; she really did her best under the circumstances, which is why I gave the restaurant a 3-star rating.

During our trip from Los Angeles to San Diego, we wanted to grab some Mexican food and stumbled upon this restaurant. The atmosphere was really enjoyable, but unfortunately, the staff wasn't very welcoming. When we inquired about some of the dishes, the response was lackluster. To be honest, the food didn't meet our expectations at all. I definitely won't be returning to this place. There are so many fantastic restaurants nearby, and it's disappointing that we chose this one.

I have been visiting Rudy's Mexican Restaurant in Monrovia for more than 20 years, and it’s my favorite Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles. It's family-friendly, offers delicious food, has a cheerful atmosphere, and serves fantastic Margaritas! I've visited this restaurant several times over the years, and the food is consistently delicious, although I'm not a fan of the salsa. The service can be unpredictable. On the plus side, the location is fantastic.
