The restaurant is located a little more than half way up on your climb to Neuschwanstein Castle. We stopped on the way down and had a beer and a glass of wine. They have outdoor covered seating and you can relax and people watch. You...can also go inside but we enjoy being outside, particularly in the gorgeous mountain setting where this is located. Prices are quite reasonable given that they are one of the few places on the side of a mountain. You can also buy trinkets and postcards.
We stopped on our trip to Germany with our dog, it rained cats and dogs and we couldn't find a place for dinner where we could also bring the dog. Finally, we tried with this restaurant, the staff was very... very friendly and we could finally taste a very good traditional dinner, the apple strudel was one of the best strudels ever. I would definitely recommend it!
We were a group of 8 including 2 children and hadn't booked but were looked after very well. Everyone's meal was excellent great service. I had the stuffed courgettes, delicious. All the meat eaters in our party were happy with their choices. As it was...our last night we indulged in the apple strudel, divine.
The city is beautiful and our server said the cook has returned to run the restaurant. Menus in many languages and we ordered half a dozen German dishes. Everything was really good. We sat outside on the terrace and I would love to eat some time here again. Thanks to the cook!
