I celebrated my birthday in sagano in the last 8 years. it was always a special evening with good food and service. She's been going to sagano for 20 years. the personal knows us and makes it very pleasant. this time we did not cost the food and will not come back until they make changes in the menu or bring back elements from the previous menu. there was no presentation or taste. I had donburi with bark. it came in a bowl with rice, bark meat and a fried egg. it was so simple and definitiv not worth $27. I had better eat at them. my friend's order was simply put on a teller. it should come on a boat dish or have presented much better. the sashimi was not fresh. the menu is also very limited...
night: sagano no longer offers the 5-course dinner ranzan with Sake pairings, although if they google sagano japanese restaurant menu, they believe this is still on the menu. the raw fish is room temperature and not cooled. the quality is similar or less than many plaza sushi restaurants, but for a much higher price. the only trigger factor is the service provided by the maitre 'd and waiter. after years of love sagano we will not return and advise our friends not to waste their money. there are much better Japanese restaurants to go.
What a disappointment. We've been going to Sagano for years as it was once of the top Japanese restaurants in the east GTA, but with a new chef and a dismal new menu, Sagano has taken a turn for the worst. Our young daughter looks forward to dining at Sagano and now never wants to eat there again. Honestly, no tamago, no katsu sauce and no tempura sauce...no traditional sauces with so few options on the new menu...c'mon! So sad that Sagano still has the great wait staff, but is no longer a Japanese restaurant.
sushi without having to leave our hotel! they advertise it as city views, as it is on the top floor, but the view is not so stunning, it is mostly all the surrounding commercial buildings in the outskirts of toronto. the service was really good, our server was so sweet for us and our daughter and took care to make them a set of child-friendly chiffel. we all enjoyed our dinner - very beautiful sushi rolls.
