What the heck has happened to my beloved Sakura Bana? Had an absolutely terrible meal there today after being out of town for 7 months. The wait staff were all different, the decorations garish, the music loud...and the food was very meh. The dumplings were oily and horrible they used to be amazing. The edamame were under salted. The avocado roll looked like a child had made it. And the 2 chicken teriyaki were served cold. I was mortified as had brought a guest and had raved about how great the place was. My husband also noticed that the place was unusually empty for 700 on a Thursday so word must be out that quality has plummeted. I even asked if there had been a mgmt change. All in all ter...
Been coming here for at least 20 years; consistently and hands down the best Japanese restaurant in the area outside NYC, at the best value. Do yourself a favor and skip the Americanized fare here (get those special rolls at a different spot; there 's dozens of sushi places around that aren 't experts in Japanese food that make great Philadelphia and spicy tuna rolls) This place is a gem for genuine high quality Japanese food, prepared to the highest standards; ask Ken for recommendations on the tastiest fish freshly imported from Japan and take advantage of this opportunity to enjoy and learn about authentic Japanese food. I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years. But after COVID Sakura bana went down hill. Sushi quality is very disappointing. Even the service went down. No one came to take orders. We waited for 10 minutes after sitting down, even though the place was not full. I had to get up and asked to be served. Goodbye Sakura Bana.
