Sakura Island Restaurant

I've been to Sekura a few times and the service has been quite different for each. This week, we had a lovely server who was very patient and attentive. Another time, I had a server who was unfriendly and impatient. Love sitting in the booths - very cozy, but the remainder of the restaurant is just okay. The sushi is well-presented, very fresh and tasty. The prices are reasonable and there is a lot of selection, including Korean dishes. We were also excited to see Fuzion wine on the menu for $20 a bottle. My most recent meal, which included a massive special roll (10 pieces), spicy tuna roll, seaweed salad, miso soup and two glasses of wine was $40 without gratuities. I was stuffed, satisfie...

My friend and I drove all the way from Guelph to Waterloo to eat a nice Korean or Japanese meal for dinner. This was a subtle restaurant located in a busy area which we found by coincidence. We ordered the tempura udon, bulgogi bibimbap, and a spicy salmon maki roll. All of the dishes had great flavour and the only regret we had was that we should've had more sushi. Extremely satisfied visit. The prices are a bit on the pricier side when compared to the GTA area but overall it was good food.

Have been several times, and enjoyed the first more so than the latter. Edamame were excellent every time and some of the rolls were quite tasty. Lack of Japanese etiquette, customs, cleanliness, etc. were as usual and as expected, disappointing. The staff tried hard, and I give at an average review - and good value for money (even though it's not the 'real deal'). Real Japanese sushi is fiercely delicious - expensive and increasingly hard to come by.

Called them twice to ask about Gluten Free Soya Sauce when ordering sushi. They assured us we would receive it with the order if we noted it in the note section. 45 minutes later they called us to tell us the food was going to arrive in 5 minutes but without the gluten free soya sauce. My wife and daughter and I go out for lunch (almost) every Saturday and our tastes are all over the place. We often opt (at least once a month) for Sakura. Their food is always well prepared and visually appealing, service is good and the pricing reasonable. Not a large restaurant and when busy it can get noisy but worth the money for Japanese fair.

One of the best sushi places I have gone to! I had a sushi and sashimi platter, jap chae, and a bento. All the food I ordered was really fresh and tasted amazing! The staff was really nice and had great service! Definitely stop here if you love sushi!!

I had the Kalbi which was excellent and sizzling hot. I also tried the sushi platter and bento. Tempura was light and delicious. Sushi was very fresh for Waterloo. Way better quality than all you can eat places.

Called in last minute to make a business reservation, the staff was able to get us in, plus provided us with a semi private booth. Been here many times and never disappointed. Thanks Reserva una mesa ahora
