Dinner last night at Santauri Restaurant, Toluca Lake. We've been driving by this very pretty place for the last 15 years or so and always said we were going to try it sometime soon. Last night spontaneously we finally did. The location is both an office building with an upscale trendy Fitness center for the millennial and entertainment crowd from the neighboring studios in Burbank and a trendy restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. We absolutely love this restaurant so much, that my husband and I have thought about getting a membership so we can get to see everything the property has to offer! Let's start with the aesthetic... GORGEOUS! You feel high class just stepping foot inside the restaurant. We have come several nights and sometimes they have live music! It really is such an elegant place. Next up, the food. There hasn't been anything that I've tried that I wasn't in love with. My favorite are the seafood items on the menu because they come out so fresh and crisp. The restaurant manager called very warm and welcoming on the phone confirmed our reservation, reminded us about the current Covid protocols of the restaurant reminded us to have our vaccination cards with us. Asked us if we were celebrating anything special mentioned about my wifeâs birthday. Told us heâll let the host and servers know to make a note and provide us with a complimentary cake as it shows on their Yelp page. Upon arrival we were seated at our table with our guests. Santuari is a very elegant beautiful restaurant. The menu offers various different items each having a different twist to them. I enjoy restaurants that change there menu often because I like trying the new items they offer. The service was great. Our waiter answered all our questions and even gave us his recommendations. For alcohol I really enjoyed the cocktail I ordered it was with plum and it was sweet just how I like it. I recommend starting with the albacore crudo. Albacore was fresh the sauce was citrusy and very tasty. For the main I ordered the pan roasted branzino and it was amazing. The flavors were perfect it was so soft it melted in my mouth. As soon as you arrive at night , the lighting of the restaurant is remarkable and impressive. The restaurant itself has 3 rooms that includes 2 indoor and 1 outdoor. We sat indoor and got to enjoy the room design and escape. The outdoor faces a tennis court. The servers Martha and Sammy took very good care of us all night. They provided excellent service with a smile. There were 5 of us so I got to taste many dishes. I had the branzino and was very happy. I tasted the short ribs, the chicken along with delicious sides and appetizers. The tres leches dessert and churros were a delight! Let 's not forget the cocktails too. Very underwhelmed. Seating was outside on a cold converted tennis court. Took over an hour for our food to start coming. Grilled octopus arrived refrigerator cold. Crème fraÃche was overly used in many dishes. They brought French fries to eat with caviar which we found very unconventional and odd since the fries were overly salty. The caviar was over powered by crème fraÃche. Crispy potatoes were mushy and stuck together. We paid extra for fresh black truffles from the south of France but the truffles had no scent or smell because they were old. Overall, dishes lacked flavor, the only item we enjoyed was the Cesar salad. Cost about Would never go back and do not recommend.
Outstanding on every level: food, service, decor, wine selection. We had a wonderful, delicious evening. However, BEWARE of restaurant adding gratuity with no notification. For small parties! I was able to change gratuity amount after the fact when I noticed it for our party of four.
