We stopped by here two mornings for breakfast and were very impressed with their attitude and ability to serve many at once. Follows the old adage "if you want something done, give it to someone who's busy". They were juggling three tour buses that morning and we cringed at the thought of how long it would take to get served, but we were ok - they had an overflow area in the pub which was nice and quiet, and we were taken care immediately. It made us want to come back for a second breakfast, which was just as good. I have nothing but praise for this location. If you are returning or heading to L'Anse au Meadows or St. Anthony, or in the area for Western Brook Pond, etc., make this spot part...
We only stopped here for lunch on our return trip south from St. Anthony to Stephenville. We were the only people in their dining room and received lots of staff attention but that really didn't help the meal quality. Compared to all the other great meals we had in Newfoundland this was probably our least favorite. The seafood chowder featured large, hard carrot chunks ... not real good at all. We know now why we were the only people in the dining room.
We grabbed dinner here before showtime at the Warehouse Theatre next door. A tour bus was parked in front, and we learned that this hotel and restaurant caters to tour groups. Not fine dining, but certainly acceptable quality, served efficiently and with a smile. Dinner for two with wine and coffees totalled $80 plus tip.
Stayed at the hotel which is connected to the restaurant . The food is good , the service fast and the prices reasonable . The view of shallow bay from the dining room window is spectacular .. Lovely sunsets ! The service is quick and the servers are friendly . Will stay and eat here on my next visit .
