I also had the opportunity to try an unfiltered Sake for the first time, and it was amazing. Much better than the regular filtered Sake I have had before. I can't believe I had never tried it before. The restaurant was surprisingly busy for a Tuesday evening, about a quarter full with a steady stream of takeout orders coming in. I plan to go back on a Saturday night for comparison. The restaurant is quite spacious, with around 20-30 tables and some outdoor seating options. The decor is nice, but not overly fancy, and the noise level was relatively quiet on a Tuesday night. There are only two parking spots in front for takeout orders, but there is ample parking available behind the restauran...
You walk in and immediately feel an old-school Thai vibe here. Just classic. Loved it! And the food, served by polite and charming staff, makes this a winner all the way around! Started with the Fresh Rolls, which were indeed fresh yummy. Entrees arrived quickly soon after with very nice portions as well. The Pad Thai is perfection, with noticeably fresh protein and veggies. A nice tasty mix of savory, sweet, salty…very well balanced. The Bai Ka Pao, ordered with seafood, was spicy delicious. This is the front runner for Thai food in St. Pete!
If you are seeking spicy and flavorful Thai dishes, this is not the place for you. I asked for medium spice level in each dish, but everything turned out to be mild. The Yum Ped duck salad, which is usually my favorite, was bland and uninteresting. Additionally, all the dishes were served at room temperature, which took away from the contrast of hot crispy duck and cold lettuce. Despite this, the service was great and the restaurant was clean and charming. Just be cautious when ordering your dishes.
I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, and the owner is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet. I am fortunate enough to fish often, but I do not enjoy cooking fish, so I bring my cleaned catch here. They prepare a delicious soup, appetizers, and main fish dish for me. Our favorite is the Spicy Garlic. The staff is also exceptional, and I am looking forward to returning soon. If you still have room after your meal, be sure to try the mango and coconut rice. I was in the area, so I swung by for a to go order on my way home to Tampa. In ordered pad thai with before and spring rolls. The spring rolls were really good... No complaints there, but the pad Thai was just barely ok. The sauce was more tangier than I expected and flavorless. I had to add salt and other spices when i got home just to make myself eat it. I ate it bc I paid for it, but based on the Pad Thai... I don't have to return.
Food was great ! We had a large party of 12, plus there was another large party so the food took just a little bit longer to come out but no complaints . It was worth the wait. Fave dish during This visit was the pad thai. Sprinkle a bit of lime and it really is one of the best noodle dishes here. We’ll be back here next time we’re in st pete !!
If Joon (June) is not the owner of this restaurant, her service is filled with ALL of the intangibles I have experienced at Oceanprime. I prefer to visit an establishment more than once to ensure consistency. It was simply a heart warming experience. BTW, that's not a ghost, the smoke was still coming off the food HOT! YES!!!
