First off. Apparently the Skiff Bar doesn’t take Open Table reservations, as we were advised by the manager rudely several times. He assured us that our reservation wasn’t accepted and suggested we take a seat wherever we found space. Fine. No worries. When I checked my email and found a confirmation I went to show the manager so he was aware that in fact, open table WAS accepting reservations so he was aware. He was beyond rude. Ok. Excepting the manager who so poorly represents the Marriott brand that they should be embarrassed and concerned, the bartender (who was clearly overworked and overwhelmed) tried to overcome the circumstances. Our bartender/server/all-around guy was absolutely incredible! We had a 6:00 reservation on Tuesday, September 7th, and he was the only one working at the restaurant, which was completely packed inside and out. Not only did he make the best mojitos ever, but he also served everyone with such efficiency and grace. He truly deserves to be recognized and rewarded for his superhero-like performance. I would have been completely overwhelmed in his shoes, but he handled everything like a true superstar!
Beautiful location and would be a great place to meet for drinks but i probably wouldn't go there to eat again. The food was mediocre at best and the service wasn't very good. They got our order wrong and we had to ask for silverware. The waitress seemed cranky but wasn't outright unpleasant.
During Labor Day weekend in Newport for a wedding, we dined at the Skiff Bar. Despite being short staffed, the team worked hard to ensure all customers were satisfied. They were courteous and the food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant!

We arrived for our reservation at The Skiff Bar, only to find out that they do not use any reservation platform. It was unclear why they are listed on here as they do not take reservations.
I requested spicy sauce on the side, but it was already added to my dish. The soft taco shells were stale and tough.
They do not accept open table reservations. We had no table! It’s first come only.
It was just mediocre. Not bad but not something I can’t wait to get again.

Everything was excellent. The food was delicious and served hot.
Ideal spot for al fresco dining and enjoying drinks.
