This place is a hidden gem for really great Sicilian pizza and short of going to Sicily (or Prince St in NYC), this is the best you 're going to get. {if you LOVE pizza} Neopolitan and NY style pizza have been the rage in So Cal. Outside of that, it 's really hard to find different styles of pizza. Chicago. Detroit. And in this case Sicilian. What I loved about Slices is the quality and ratio of ingredients. Generally, great pizza should be memorable--not because it 's too heavy or taste processed. What was most memorable for me was the dough, which provided an excellent focaccia base. The sauce, cheese and additional ingredients layered nicely onto this base without any specific ingredient...
My husband was sooo excited about trying Sliced after following Me. Franzese for a long time. So disappointing to find the store is closed until April. It would have been great to have a phone message or some sort of notice that they're closed before we drove over when we were unable to order online or by phone. Hopefully this notice will help others until they reopen. We hope to try the pizza when we visit family again in the future.
SLICES in Newport Beach is perhaps deserves more than 5 stars. The lady at the counter was extremely cordial and the pizza was plain simple the BEST we have had in a longtime. I would say it stands up to Lombardi's in NY. The square veggie pizza took me back to Rome close to the Vatican where they had the same square pizza. Yummy!!!!
I have a few questions that I'm quite confused about. Every time I've tried to return here, it seems they're closed. What are their actual hours? Also, why is their logo a triangular slice when they only sell square pieces? Isn't a slice supposed to be triangular? Can you really call yourself Slices if you're not selling slices?

I believe they're permanently closed. Although the electricity is on and they still have supplies inside, I don't remember the last time I saw them open. There's been a lot of complaints around town that they were cancelling orders after charging for them. Someone also reported that they were evicted but I can't confirm.
Hear about this place last year and came in from Denver. Was here visiting family so I dropped in and the pizza is amazing. I am from Jersey so I have had my share of pizza. This pizza rocks and the crust is light and the quality of ingredients is over the top.Coming back before I leave town.Enjoy….from Kyri…Colorado
Amazing pizza. Literally never open. Every time I've tried to drive up and order a pizza it's been closed. Hours on the door and on yelp state that they should be open but they aren't. Frustrating Bc the pizza is so good and want to support. Oh well there are other places in Newport to go to!
I absolutely loved it! It was my first time dining here, and I'm not quite sure what they do to the crust, but it was incredibly delicious.
