Smuggler's Cove Pub

Just went to this pub yesterday(Labour Day Monday) with 2 family members. Went to have the nachos and chicken strips as an early afternoon snack as it opened at 12 noon. I have to say nachos had to be the worst I 've ordered in a pub....EVER!!! $26 for chips(which actually tasted good mind you), tomatoes, onions which we asked ?NO ONIONS?, and miniscule amounts of cheese on them. I mean half my chips I picked up didn 't even have anything on them. Loaded in onions. Didn 't even get the olives it said came with them. No wonder they put Extra Cheese as a topping you can pay $4 extra for. I bet that amount extra wouldn 't have even been a good amount to make them tastier. ?? I have to say the c...

We went on a Monday afternoon, so we assume it wouldn't be too busy. And it was busy around 1pm but shortly after it slowed down. Needless to say the service could improve: a sandwich takes over half hour to make and the senior brunette waitress seemed to be upset she was working today. Apparently this pub is also a micro brewery or something alike because asking if they have a beer they don't seemed to offend the waitress. The one star goes to the hostess greeting us at the front and stepping out when we left on the side to wish us a great day.

Met some friends here for dinner. Made a reservation. Quite a busy place. Good turnover though so people move through. Good food and lively environment. Smaller unusual shaped room but they have accommodated it well and it is an enjoyable place to spend some time. Not too noisy and good room between tables.

The cocktails we took are good and well served ?? but they had no more mussels (a starter at 25! and the fried calamari is not terrible on the other hand, bland and not golden enough, it's the place where I prefer them the least... I go back just for Reserva una mesa ahora

Just stopped in for a couple of pints. The only place in Canada(that I've been to anyway) that they actually fill them to the very top. Very friendly and welcoming staff very close to the beach.

Great veggie burger and fries, and good 20oz pints. Love the architecture, a bit like something out of Harry Potter Hot Fuzz.

Good wings, decent price for full pints, and a dog friendly patio! Great option for an afternoon treat near Cadboro Bay!
