"You missed the mark today Dulan's . I ordered a veggie plate, three items. Collard greens, mac cheese, red beans, and rice. They must have scraped all the burnt edges of the Mac n cheese and put them on my plate. My red beans taste more like chili beans over rice. Why was there a chili taste??? Through my whole meal off. And I was so hungry!"

I recently ate here with a large group of friends, and I was confident that I would like it. The parking lot was full, so I parked around the corner with no problem. The gentleman who greeted us was very kind, and our waitress was very attentive. But it went downhill from there. I was going to get fish, but when a friend said she was trying to decide between the chicken and the fish, I ordered the chicken, and she ordered the fish. Instead of fish, she was given chicken, and since everyone else had been served, she decided not to return it to the kitchen for the fish. My chicken was very dry, and kind of bland. The collard greens did nothing for me, so I stopped eating them after a few bites. The yams were extremely sweet. Since it was clear that I wasn't eating much, I ordered the sweet tea, which was actually OK. The cornbread that we were served in the beginning was very tasty, but very oily. The cost for all of this was more than $38. I thought that was crazy, but I never saw the breakdown, since the waitress just put the handheld machine in front of me and I inserted my credit card. I've had much better soul food before, and I'm afraid that I cannot recommend this place. I will note, however, that some of the people that I was with said they really liked it, even though they complained about specific dishes. I think they also really wanted to like it.

Dulan's Soul Food Kitchen is where you go for solid down home cooking. The portions are generous and you can find comfort foods including mac and cheese, fried chicken, red beans and rice, cornbread, greens, candied yams, sweet potato pie, and ice tea. The walls are adorned with blues artwork and Rams memorabilia. You are immediately greeted by a friendly host and taken to a table. Throughout the meal, the owners and staff check in on how you're doing. My grandma didn't cook this type of food, but the idea is the same, there was always a lot of comforting and nourishing food with plenty of family members. Oxtails: The oxtail plate is generous, and I mean hearty! The tender meat flakes off the bone with the slightest nudge of the fork. The meat is beefy and succulent from hours of gentle braising. The pieces are arranged on rice that had absorbed the braising gravy. For lunch, you can choose two sides and for dinner, you get three. The collard greens are nicely cooked with a bitter and savory flavor, which is enhanced by the chunks of pork. There are two pieces of gritty crumbly cornbread. The candied yams are firm, juicy, and mushy, which are almost like a dessert. Dining Area: There's a large indoor dining area. Walk past the To Go order window unless you are here for takeout. Parking: There's a small lot on the side with a couple open spaces.

You can tell that Dulan 's has great soul food because there is always a line, no matter what time of day it is. I ordered the two-piece chicken lunch special (breast and thigh). I received the wrong order (two wings), but I got to keep it as the waiter retrieved the correct cut of meat. The fried chicken is perfectly seasoned. It 's not so much spicy like lets say Popeyes, but more buttermilk style with a slight pepper-ey taste. And it 's wonderful. The chicken was extremely succulent and juicy, and two sides I ordered were fantastic too. The Mac n 'cheese is kinda a soufflé style. It has a nice breading-crust to it. And it 's fantastic. The collard green had a homestyle all-southern taste to it. Taste is slightly bitter and can be viewed as an 'acquired. ' Yet, I adapted after the first couple bites.

Nearly forgot to take a photo of the food in our rush to eat it we grabbed Dulan's from the takeout window (really fast, not even a 15 min wait! before going to SoFi stadium, and this was such a rich and filling meal. We got smothered chicken, candied yams, and green beans with a side of mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. Everything was piping hot and smelled and tasted so delicious obviously super rich and filling, we could barely finish one dinner plate between two. Very worth for the price!
