My wife and I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants in South Shields and have visited Spice 1 many times. Our trip tonight however was a strange one however. A recent article in the local newspaper revealed that a recent random inspection had...found rat or mice droppings,and several serious breaches of food hygiene laws. Our thinking was that maybe they would be at the top of their game after these findings,so off we went. On walking inside the large room,we were taken aback by the fact that not a single table was occupied. Nevertheless, we were ushered to our table by a very helpful member of staff. decided to come here for the first time with the EOTHO incentive. started well, good online booking system and then sit and drink super fast. but fast forward 30 minutes, no order taken, had to ask two people before finally ordered. then disturbed employees, who, then, quite unchalant after. it was good. quickly mad. bad choice of us and a bit of a drop of eotho. No one seemed to be responsible for themselves or to know the left hand from the right. tic socially distant, but the personal could really wear ppe to give more trust. We have been visiting Spice 1 since the first day it opened its doors and have always had a great time and fantastic food. We went for a meal on valentines night and I have to admit the recent renovation has transformed the restaurant into...a much more brighter and cosier place to dine giving it a wow factor .The food as always was brilliant and the staff helpful and courteous if you want to dine in a relaxing atmosphere this is the place to visit Well done AJ great job Steve Kath

The makeover has been thoughtfully done the seating arrangement has been changed around which I think suits all size of parties. My wife and i were welcomed by AJ and his dad and we ordered our usual chicken balti , which was perfect just the...way we like it, we have tried others recently in ocean road but spice one still the best in town .

I and the family come here regularly. the service, eating and the personal are always absolute top drawer. I wouldn't go to the other Indian restaurant in shields because they aren't better than this place.
