Indian home cooking would be great! On December 13th, 2024 Ralph and I were at Spice Trails for the first time. We chose this restaurant because we read interesting things about it in the Badische Zeitung. The ambience was more sober than we had imagined, but the noise level was pleasant in the early evening. The service was friendly and we had our drinks quickly. Unfortunately, my dish lentil curry was a disappointment. I couldn't taste what spices were used. So at the beginning of the year I celebrated my birthday with you. We were about 25 people. Das Spicetrails ist eines meiner Lieblingsrestaurants in Freiburg. Sehr leckere südostasiatische Küche. Tolle Specials wie Wine&Dine und 3+4 Gänge Menüs in Kooperation mit einem Heidelberger Koch. Coole Atmosphäre im Stammlokal in der City. Einziger Wehmutstropfen “früher” hat die Karte deutlich öfters gewechselt. Das fand ich toll, weil es so immer etwas Neues zu entdecken gab. kleines, schmales Lokal( etwas dunkel) im Bermudadreieck. Bestellt wird vorne an der Theke im Self Service. Wir hatten ein Duo von zwei verschiedenen Curry zum probieren. Restaurant an sich war sauber, wir waren zur Mittagszeit da, es war halb gefüllt. Bedienung war freundlich. Nun zum Essen: geschmacklich kann ich den anderen Bewertungen hier nicht zu stimmen. es war jetzt nicht schlecht, aber es waren keine fünf Sterne. Ich war selbst viel in Asien unterwegs und kenne die Küche sehr gut.
Normally very happy with the food. I noticed on my return that 1) the portions are a lot smaller and 2) in the beef curry that is my favourite dish the meat was drier than sand. I pointed this out to the two servers. One might have expected a complimentary espresso, but there was very little interest. A shame as I'd bigged up the dish to my friend. My dish was excellent.
